Provided are a brush fiber and a method for manufacturing the same, the brush fiber having a filamentous core part and a sheath part provided on the surface of the core part, the distal end portion of the core part having a tapered shape, and the sheath part comprising an electrically conductive material. The electrically conductive material may be a sulfide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Cu, Ag, and Pd, for example.
