Provided are a ruthenium complex having a novel structure, and a dye-sensitized solar cell using the complex as a dye molecule showing improved solar conversion efficiency. The ruthenium complex is represented by the formula(1) of Ru(Li)2(L2)(X)2, wherein L1 is a ligand of the formula(2), L2 is a ligand selected from the group consisting of formulae(3) to (5), and X is CN or NCS. In the formulae(2) to (5), each R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 is independently H, halogen, hydroxy, carboxyl, substituted or unsubstituted amino, nitro, cyano, substituted or unsubstituted C1-20 alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted C1-20 alkoxy, substituted or unsubstituted C2-20 alkenyl, substituted or unsubstituted C2-20 alkynyl, substituted or unsubstituted C6-30 aryl, substituted or unsubstituted C6-30 aryloxy, substituted or unsubstituted C2-30 heteroaryl, or substituted or unsubstituted C2-30 heteroaryloxy. The dye sensitized solar cell comprises a semiconductor electrode, a photoabsorption layer comprising the ruthenium complex and a metal oxide, and a counter electrode. |
