PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary solenoid which can avoid occurrence of operational noise caused by energization or non-energization, be reliably controlled with a relatively simple structure, and attain space saving advantageously from the viewpoint of cost with an excellent mass productivity. SOLUTION: The rotary solenoid generates a repulsive or attracting force between core plates 13, 14 and magnetic poles 8A, 8B of a rotary hub 8, by magnetizing the core plates 13, 14 in a predetermined direction through passage of a current to a coil member. This enables the rotary hub 8 to be reciprocated between an initial position S1 and an operational position S2 together with a drive shaft 3, thus enabling control of a driven target member. The solenoid can be manufactured with a relatively simple structure and attain space saving advantageously from the viewpoint of cost with an excellent mass productivity. Thus, the solenoid is suitably mounted as a rotary solenoid on a vehicle designed for mass production. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
