The adjusting device (10) has an adjusting unit (12) with a spindle (16) mounted in a holder (18) and a pinion (14) connected to the spindle for rotation of a pressure plate relative to counter plate on ramp system for axial displacement of the pressure plate to the counter plate in response to a relative rotation. A drive pawl arranged on the circumference of the pinion for rotates the pinion in a first rotational direction. The adjusting unit has locking element for frictional locking of the pinion.
