<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with high visibility and high contrast in which alignment defects of liquid crystal, such as disclination and light leakage, of a liquid crystal display device during display at a black level can be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A part of pixel electrodes 203a to 203b is formed overlapping with a convex part 204. When the height of the convex part is too large, the liquid crystal is aligned obliquely relative to a substrate surface, thereby increasing light leakage (Fig 1(C)). When the height of the convex part is too small, the effect of reducing disclination is small. Thus, the optimal height of the convex part is determined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
