<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system having high confidentiality and high speed data transmission. <P>SOLUTION: A first data supply source 6 outputs data including an identifier having a preset value. A second data supply source 7 outputs data, including an identifier having a value other than the preset value, requiring confidentiality. An HDMI encoding IC 8 encodes the data output from the first data supply source 6 or the data output from the second data supply source 7 to a signal conforming to a predetermined transmission standard. Here, the preset data is determined according to a predetermined transmission standard. An HDMI decoding IC 16 decodes the received signal encoded according to the predetermined standard.
