<p>The purpose of the present invention is to provide a device for hermetically sealing a valve stem, the device being capable of circumventing the problem of a valve stem seal detaching from a valve stem guide. Therefore, a valve stem seal device having a valve stem seal provided with a cylindrical metallic ring held on the outer periphery of a valve stem guide, and a seal lip formed integrally on one end side of the metallic ring and made of a rubbery elastic material that slides with the valve stem in an airtight manner, the valve stem seal being fixed to the valve stem guide, wherein a the device is provided with a stop ring that is fitted into and held between the cylindrical inner peripheral surface of the metallic ring and a circular-truncated-cone-shaped surface increasing in diameter toward the seal lip, the surface being formed on the outer peripheral surface of the valve stem guide. The stop ring has a cut part, and a movement limiting means is provided for limiting movement in the axial direction of the stop ring on the other side of the metallic ring.</p> |
