<p>Provided are: a rubber composition that, in a balanced manner, can increase wet grip performance and fuel economy; and a pneumatic tire that uses the rubber composition in the members (particularly the tread) of a tire. The rubber composition contains: a rubber component containing a copolymer that is obtained by the copolymerization of 1,3-butadiene, styrene, and the compound represented by formula (I), has an amino group at one terminus, has a functional group containing at least one atom selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, and silicon at the other terminus, and has a weight average molecular weight of 1.0×105 - 2.5×106; silica; and a silane coupling agent having a mercapto group. In the formula, R1 represents a hydrocarbon group having 1-10 carbon atoms.</p> |
