<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To swiftly and accurately determine condensation generation even with an aged and degraded light source. <P>SOLUTION: The image reading device includes: a transparent member; a light source; and an image reading section that reads an image from an original document as plural pixels; and first and second condensation determination members each having different reflectance, which are disposed on a part of the transparent member abutting on each other in one direction of a main scanning direction or a sub scanning direction. Defining that the pixel values of first and second neighboring pixels, which are the values of the first and second condensation determination members adjacent to a boundary between the first and second condensation determination members, are handled as first and second neighboring pixel values; and pixel values of the first and second separate pixels, which are the values read at a position separate away from the boundary further than the first and second neighboring pixels, are handled as first and second separate pixel values, when a difference between the first and second neighboring pixel values (neighboring pixel difference value) and a difference between the first and second separate pixel values (separate pixel difference value) is larger than a predetermined difference, it is determined that condensation is generated at the boundary on the transparent member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
