CONTROL DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, the device capable of appropriately suppressing degradation in a combustion state of a compression ignition type internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: The control device carries out multi-stage injection in one cylinder during one combustion cycle of an engine 10 by allowing a fuel injection valve 32 to perform a main injection and a pilot injection preceding the main injection. The control device carries out a pilot division injection process to energize to operate the fuel injection valve 32 in such a manner that the pilot injection is divided into multiple micro-injections and that each fuel spray formed by the first micro-injection of the multiple micro-injections is connected to fuel sprays formed by micro-injections following the first micro-injection of the multiple micro-injections.
