<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable light-emitting device, a light-emitting device in which a trouble due to a metal mask is suppressed, and a light-emitting device in which a trouble due to the resistance of an upper electrode layer of a light-emitting element is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: An electrode layer is provided in advance on a substrate, and an EL layer and an upper electrode layer are formed in the same pattern overlapping with the electrode layer without the use of a metal mask. Then, the electrode layer and the upper electrode layer are electrically connected to each other.
