<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can achieve low power consumption at displaying a still image, and a portable information device using the liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device that inputs digital signals of n bits (n is a natural number) to perform image display incorporates n storage circuits per one pixel. The n-bit digital signals stored in the n storage circuits are converted to the corresponding analog signals by a D/A converter formed for each pixel and then input into a liquid crystal element. As a result, when a still image is displayed, the stored digital signals are repeatedly used after the digital signals are once stored in the storage circuits. At this time, drive of a source signal line drive circuit and the like can be stopped.
