A recombinant microorganism having glutamate dehydrogenase and mannitol dehydrogenase is provided to produce simultaneously alpha-keto-glutarate and mannitol from glutamic acid and fructose, so that the produced alpha-keto-glutarate and mannitol are useful in biological industry. A recombinant microorganism having a recombinant vector containing glutamate dehydrogenase and mannitol dehydrogenase genes, capable of expressing or overexpressing glutamate dehydrogenase derived from Thermus sp. using NAD+(nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) as coenzyme and mannitol dehydrogenase derived from Leuconostoc sp. or Pseudomonas sp. using NADH as a coenzyme produces alpha-keto-glutarate and mannitol from glutamic acid and fructose simultaneously. The alpha-keto-glutarate and mannitol are produced simultaneously by inoculating and culturing the recombinant microorganism in a medium containing glutamate or its derivatives and fructose as substrates.
