The method involves providing a revolver holder (2) with lamps (3.1-3.6) e.g. filament lamps. The revolver holder is rotated from a position into another position, if decrease of luminosity of the lamps below a limiting value is detected by an optical detection unit for modification of the luminosity of the lamps. An electrical power supply of one lamp that exhibits the reduced luminosity, is interrupted during rotation of the revolver holder. The electrical power supply is connected with another lamp that is rotated in an original position of the former lamp. An independent claim is also included for a lighting device.
