PURPOSE: A method for calculating horizontal symmetry of a face and a device thereof are provided to detect a face from an image which includes the face, thereby obtaining horizontal symmetry of the face. CONSTITUTION: An image converting unit(130) rotates or moves an ROI(Region of Interest) image as much as a preset value. The image converting unit generates a second reduction image. A symmetry calculating unit(140) obtains symmetry between a right area and a left area around a preset symmetrical axis about a face area of a first reduction image. The symmetry calculating unit recalculates the symmetry around the symmetrical axis for a face area of a second reduction image. If the re-calculated symmetry is higher than previously calculated symmetry, the symmetry calculating unit updates the previous calculated symmetry by the re-calculated symmetry. |
