A drum type washing machine and a control method thereof are provided to operate the balanced washing by rotating the rotating drum and overturning the laundry during the vibration washing mode. A drum type washing machine is composed of a water tank(11) receiving the washing water; a rotating drum(20) installed in the water tank; advance and retreat members(51a,51b,51c,51d) mounted in the rotating drum to be advanced and retreated with a predetermined area and combined with magnets; and electromagnets(52a,52b,52c,52d) installed at the water tank to advance and retreat the members through the mutual operation with the magnets. Plural lifters(26a,26b) are installed on the inner surface of the rotating drum, and the advance and retreat members are installed at more than one lifter. |
