In order to simplify connection to an SIP network, a router (20) configuring a communications system (1) uses a DHCP to obtain from a carrier network (30) information required to connect to a server (SIP server) installed in the carrier network. In addition, a communications device (10) obtains said information from the router (20), using a different local protocol to the SIP and DHCP. A local protocol such as UPnP protocol is used.
