<p>This display device has 20 segments disposed in a rectangular display area. In a state where the display area is divided into divisions with five rows and five columns: an independent segment is disposed in each of the divisions for the first column and fifth column of the divisions of the first row and a segment that continues across the divisions for the second column, third column, and fourth column is disposed; an independent segment is disposed in each of the divisions of the second row; an independent segment is disposed in each of the divisions for the first column, second column, third column, and fourth column of each of the divisions for the third and fourth rows and a segment that continues across the divisions for the fifth column is disposed; and an independent segment is disposed in each of the divisions for the first column and fifth column of the divisions for the fifth row and a segment that continues across the second column, third column, and fourth column is disposed.
