PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which includes a surface sheet showing excellent concealing performance and a bulkiness retaining property. SOLUTION: The surface sheet disposed in the absorbent article includes a composite fiber 100 containing a particulate light transmission suppressing agent 150 for suppressing the transmission of light. The composite fiber 100 contained in the surface sheet includes a core part 110 and a sheath part 120 which covers the entire or a part of the core part 110 and composed of a component having a melting point lower than the core part 110. The content rate of the light transmission suppressing agent 150 in the sheath part 120 is higher than that of the light transmission suppressing agent 150 in the core part 110.
