<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a colorless ONU (Optical Network Unit) corresponding to an optical power splitter type WDM-PON without using a variable wavelength filter. <P>SOLUTION: An optical transmitter comprises an optical frequency comb generator, a demultiplexing means configured to divide an optical frequency comb of an optical frequency interval Δf into (n) mutually different optical frequency bands ΔF1 to ΔFn and also demultiplex (n) sets of two or more CW light beams of optical frequency intervals Δf1 to Δfn different by the respective frequency bands, (n) optical modulators configured to modulate the (n) sets of CW light beams with (n) transmission signals respectively and output (n) modulated light beams, and a demultiplexing means. Respective optical receivers comprise photodetectors configured to convert the (n) modulated light beams into electric signals and then output beat signals of frequencies corresponding to the optical frequency intervals Δf1 to Δfn, and heterodyne demodulators configured to heterodyne-detect beat signals of frequencies each corresponding to one of the optical frequency intervals different among respective optical receivers from the beat signals of the optical frequencies corresponding to the optical frequency intervals Δf1 to Δfn, and output transmission signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
