PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder composition for a secondary battery electrode which is superior in airtightness with a current collector which is capable of manufacturing a secondary battery with little capacity reduction at a high speed discharge and superior cycle characteristics, and which is superior in slurry stability. SOLUTION: This is the binder composition for the secondary battery electrode which contains (A) a first polymer containing a sulfonic acid group, (B) a second polymer not containing the sulfonic acid group, and (C) an organic solvent having N-methylpyrrolidone as the main component, and in which (A) the ratio of the sulfonic acid group contained in the first polymer is 0.005 to 1.0 mmol/g.
