PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the user-friendliness of a television receiver by automatically selecting among video signals inputted via a plurality of input terminals and automatically turning off the power, when there is no input of video signals. SOLUTION: When a video signal is inputted from an external apparatus 11, a control portion 7 detects from which external apparatus the video signal was inputted (#3) and switches over the mode to an external apparatus, from which a video signal is inputted last (#5). Thereafter, when there is no input of a video signal from other external apparatuses ("NO" in #7) and when there is no input of a video signal over a predetermined period of time ("YES" in #8), the control portion 7 switches over the mode to an external apparatus, from which a video signal was inputted last but one previous (#9). When there is no input of a video signal from all the external apparatuses ("YES" in #10), the control portion 7 turns off the power of the television receiver 1 (#11). COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
