PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an intermediate shaft secure a sufficient shock absorbing stroke when a primary collision which is a collision of a vehicle with a wall etc. occurs, and shorten the overall length of the intermediate shaft. SOLUTION: This shock absorbing type vehicle steering device is provided with a first universal joint 4 for connecting the first end 25 of the intermediate shaft 5 and a steering shaft 3, and a second universal joint 6 for connecting the second end 30 of the intermediate shaft 5 and a pinion shaft 8. The intermediate shaft 5 includes a hollow bellows 52 alternatingly having slant mountains 53 and slant valleys 54.
