PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that increase in the number of nozzles causes air bubbles to remain at the end of a common liquid chamber in a long head at the time of initial filling of ink to prevent stable discharge of ink drops. SOLUTION: A frame 7 of a liquid discharge head 1 is provided with an ink feed opening 9 for feeding ink to a common liquid chamber 6 from an end part in the longitudinal direction of the common liquid chamber 6. An atmosphere communication mechanism 11 for communicating the other end of the common liquid chamber 6 with the atmosphere is provided in the downstream in the ink inflow direction which is the other end side of the common liquid chamber 6. In the atmosphere communication mechanism 11, a frame 7 is equipped with a movable member 12 which is movable by pressure of ink to be fed into the common liquid chamber 6 in a manner it is freely movable relative to the inside of the common liquid chamber 6. In the moving member 12, there is formed a communicating hole 13 for communicating the inside of the common liquid chamber 6 with the atmosphere when the movable member 12 has moved a predetermined distance by liquid pressure.
