<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart keyless entry system formed of a keyless control unit 1 and a portable machine 2, wherein the smart keyless entry system can positively lock a vehicular door 20 by positively activating a door lock device even when the driver holding the portable machine 2, for instance, is about to leave a vehicle A in a hurry. <P>SOLUTION: According to the operation of the smart keyless entry system, immediately after switching of the vehicular door 20 from an open state to a closed state, a transmission scheduled area of a request signal transmitted from the keyless control unit 1 is set to a second predetermined area 32, and thereafter when the keyless control unit 1 receives a reception confirmation signal of the portable machine 2 and authenticates an authentication code included in the signal, the transmission scheduled area is switched to a first predetermined area 31 narrower than the second predetermined area 32.
