A semiconductor IC and a control method thereof are provided to restore and reserve the internal state data of the target circuit in a short time by dividing the scan-chain into the sub scan-chain. A semiconductor IC comprises a target circuit(11). The target circuit comprises a scan-chain(15). The scan-chain comprises the first or fifth flip-flop. The first flip flop is connected between the input unit and the output unit of scan-chain. The second flip-flop is connected between the input unit and the first flip flop of scan-chain. The third flip flop is connected between the first and second flip-flops. The fourth flip flop is connected between the output unit and the first flip flop of scan-chain. The fifth flip flop is connected between the first and third flip flops. In the leave-in mode, the first and third flip flop output the data parallely.
