PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin core material for a weather strip, improved in material yield, stable in the shape precision, and excellent in mass productivity. SOLUTION: Incisions 10a are formed on a raw material 6A of the core material, extrusion-molded into a U-shape, with a cutter blade except for a bridge part 9, and the material 6A is cut to many bone pieces 8, 8, ... with the incisions 10a. With a group of core material rolling rollers, formed is a rolled groove part 11 continuous between the bottoms of 8, 8, ... and the bridge part 9, and with the rolling effect each incision 10a is stretched/widened in the longitudinal direction to make the resin core material 6 having slit parts 10. In the rolled groove part 11, embedded is a resin auxiliary core material that has a smaller coefficient of linear expansion than that of the resin core material 6 itself.
