The present invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous dispersion or suspension of calcium carbonate and kaolin that comprises the steps of producing, in the optional presence of a grinding or dispersing agent, an aqueous dispersion or suspension of calcium carbonate having a dry extract lower than 70 % of its weight, and adding kaolin in a dry powder form so as to maintain a dry weight ratio (precipitated calcium carbonate : kaolin) of between (90 : 10) and (10 : 90). The invention also relates to the aqueous dispersions or suspensions thus obtained, to the use thereof in the production of coating slips for the paper industry that provide improved optical properties for the final product. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
