PURPOSE: A content providing server, a content encoding method, a content decoding method and a record medium which stores the content encoding and decoding methods are provided to conduct user authentication for obtaining content use right by offline, not online, thereby improving user convenience in using content. CONSTITUTION: When a request for use of certain content is received from a user terminal, a password code generator(150) generates a first password code by using recognizing information of the user, and generates a second password code by using part of the recognizing information. A header generator(160) records the first password code in the content header of the requested content. A password encoder(180) encodes the requested content by using the second password code. A transceiver(115) transmits the encoded content to the user terminal. The recognizing information comprises web ID, password, name, and residential number of the user.
