PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting a message to a portable terminal are provided to extract a multimedia clip in order to utilize a message service from a stored multimedia content. CONSTITUTION: A search word analyzing unit(102) analyzes a search word for extracting a multimedia clip. A clip managing unit(104) searches for content related to the search word. The clip managing unit stores the searched contents to the multimedia clip. A control unit(100) includes the multimedia clip corresponding to the inputted word in the message.
