PURPOSE: A multicast based content transfer system and a method thereof are provided to transfer content of bulk in an adaptive multicast type according to network transfer speed of the user. CONSTITUTION: A user terminal(130) confirms a multicast stream list and a connectable transfer rate from a device for providing contents(110). The user terminal measures the current network speed of the device for providing contents. The user determines stream of high stream in multicast streams to the content supplying device.
