The method involves determining a target number of erased memory areas (2) in a partitioned electronic memory (1), and determining actual number of the erased memory areas by counting the memory areas with memory content corresponding to an erased state of the memory areas. The actual number of the erased memory areas is compared with the target number of the erased memory areas. Incorrectly erased memory areas are detected if the actual number and target number of the erased memory areas are different. Identification marks i.e. page numbers, for the erased memory areas are determined. |
