The transport system (1) comprises several vehicles (3) configured to be driven independently of each other, a guiding device (5) configured to guide the vehicles in a circulating manner, and several mold shells (4) configured to encompass a sidewall (2a) of the containers (2) about a partial circumferential area of the sidewall. The mold shells are mounted on the respective vehicles to receive the containers between adjacent mold shells of adjacent vehicles and transport them. The guiding device is longer than the vehicles to form a non-circulating gap between respective vehicles. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for transport of containers using a transport system; and (2) a container.
