PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system that allows for controlling a display device mounted on a head of a user by means of more intuitive input manipulation, and to provide a method of controlling the display device.SOLUTION: A display system 1 comprises a head-mounted display device 100 comprising a display unit (image display unit 20) to be mounted on a head of a user, and a manipulation device 3 configured separately from the display unit. The manipulation device 3 includes a manipulation unit for receiving user manipulation, and a wireless communication unit for transmitting data representing manipulation received by the manipulation unit to the head-mounted display device 100. The head-mounted display device 100 uses the image display unit 20 to provide AR view associated with external scenery entering through the image display unit 20 in a manner corresponding to (manipulation on) the manipulation unit based on the data transmitted from the manipulation device 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
