PURPOSE: A light emitting device, a light emitting device package, a light unit, and a method for fabricating the light emitting device are provided to change an electric signal to light by using the property of compound semiconductor. CONSTITUTION: An active layer(43) is formed under a first conductivity type semiconductor layer(41). A second conductivity type semiconductor layer(45) is formed under the active layer. A light emitting structure(40) includes a first and a second semiconductor layer and the active layer. A first electrode is formed on the light emitting structure. A second electrode is formed under the light emitting structure.
