Modular lighting unit for street lighting comprising: a running gear module 24 with housing 26 containing said running gear, and a lighting module 22 comprising a housing 34 including a reflector. A lower cover assembly and means 46 for mounting a lamp within lighting housing 34 are provided, wherein the gear housing 26 includes means 48, 54 for mounting to a standard, a pole, or a wall. The lighting module 22 can be pivotally mounted to the gear module 24 with an access point at the end of the lighting module 22 remote to the pivot for re-lamping with the lighting unit in-situ. The pivotal mounting acts as thermal break between the lighting and gear modules. The reflector allows streetlight, spotlight, and floodlight light distributions. The working gear of the lamp is sealed against dirt and water while the lighting unit 22 and/or the gear module 24 have airflow means. |
