Use of a stabilizer system of finely distributed particles comprising an elemental metal-1 and a compound of a metal-2 with at least one further element, to prevent thermo-oxidative aging of thermoplastics or for stabilizing thermoplastics against thermo-oxidative degradation, is claimed, where the metal-1 is less noble than metal-2, and the metal-1 and the compound of metal-2 are contacted with each other. Independent claims are included for: (1) a thermoplastic molding composition comprising 5-98.999 wt.% of thermoplastic compounds, 0.001-20 wt.% of stabilizer system and 1-30 wt.% of further additives; and (2) the preparation of the thermoplastic molding composition comprising mixing the thermoplastic compounds, stabilizer system, further additives and optionally fillers or reinforcing substances at 220-360[deg] C by blending, mixing, kneading, extruding or rolling. |
