Connecting uppers to insoles etc.; uppers.- The upper a of a boot or shoe is provided with an extension g in one piece therewith at the waist across from the inside of the arch to the other side and in contact with the inner sole, to which it is connected by stitching or otherwise. In the case of a welted shoe, the welt b terminates on the inner side at the commencement of the arch or ball joint, and is continued on the other side to the heel and is sewn to the inner sole and upper by stitching f in the usual manner. The outer sole is connected to the welt in the usual manner also and is also stitched at the inner edge of the waist to the extension g. When the outer sole is stitched directly to the upper and insole, the stitching passes also through the extended portion g of the upper. |
