PROTEIN MARKER MELANOTRANSFERRIN FOR COLON CANCER DIAGNOSIS AND DIAGNOSIS KIT FOR COLON CANCER USING ANTIBODIES AGAINST THE SAME

PURPOSE: A kit containing an antibody which specifically binds to melanotransferrin or a fragment thereof for diagnosing colon cancer is provided to ensure high sensitivity and simply analyze plasma without a biopsy. CONSTITUTION: A biomarker for diagnosing colon cancer contains melanotransferrin with an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1. The expression of melanotransferrin is relatively increased in blood, plasma, or serum from an individual with colon cancer. A kit for diagnosing colon cancer contains an antibody which specifically binds to melanotransferrin or a fragment thereof. A method for detecting melanotransferrin comprises: a step of contacting the antibody with a biological sample of an individual who is suspected to have colon cancer; and a step of detecting melanotransferrin from the biological sample.
