COMPOSITIONS FOR THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF OBESITY COMPRISING EXTRACTS OF GAMBIGYEONGSINHWAN (2) AS AN ACTIVE INGREDIENT

PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food containing extracts of Curcuma longa L., Cassia obtusifolia L., and Amorphophallus rivieri Durieu for preventing and treating obesity are provided to reduce the number and size of the adipocytes and the concentration of ALT, HDLcholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride glucose in blood. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating obesity contains extracts of 0.1-80 parts by weight of Curcuma longa L., 0.1-40 parts by weight of Cassia obtusifolia L., and 0.1-40 parts by weight of Amorphophallus rivieri Durieu as active ingredients. The extracts are prepared using water, low carbon number alcohol of C1-C4, or a mixture thereof. The dose of the composition is 0.01-10000 mg per body weight. A health functional food for preventing and treating obesity contains the extracts as active ingredients.
