A mobile terminal and a method for notifying an access router about an IP address in a wireless network are provided to solve a problem that if a mobile terminal automatically sets an IP(Internet Protocol) address by itself and an access router does not know the IP address, a network operation may be problematic. A mobile terminal automatically generates an IP address(S210) and performs DAD(Duplicate Address Detection) on the generated IP address(S220). The mobile terminal transmits a notification message including the automatically generated IP address according to the DAD performing results to an access router(S230). The mobile terminal checks whether an approval message is received in response to the notification message(S240). The mobile terminal properly uses the automatically generated IP address according to whether or not the approval message is received(S250). |
