PURPOSE: An impurity for a synthetic route to methamphetamine is provided to provide useful information about a synthetic route to methamphetamine when analyzing impurities in a methamphetamine specimen. CONSTITUTION: An impurity for a synthetic route to methamphetamine is (1S,2S)-1-methylamino-1-phenyl-2-chloropropane. A manufacturing method of (1S,2S)-1-methylamino-1-phenyl-2-chloropropane comprises: a step of reacting (1S,2S)-(+)-chloropseudoephedrine with NaOH solution and extracting CHCl3 from the resultant; a step of reacting a CHCl3 extract with HCl-containing methanol to remove a solvent by distillation; and a step of re-dissolving residues into CHCl3 and purifying the same.
