Preparing esters of amino acids, peptides or proteins (I) or their salts, comprises: contacting one or more amino acids, peptides or proteins (II) or their salts in the presence of acid catalyst and water at 0-100[deg] C for 5 seconds; then contacting the obtained solution or suspension of (II) with one or more alcohols at 50-200[deg] C for 15 minutes to 12 hours; removing water from the reaction medium until obtaining a solution of esters of (I); and optionally separating the esters from the solution. Preparing esters of amino acids, peptides or proteins of formula (H-(X-CHR2-CO) n-O-R1) (I) or their salts, comprises: contacting one or more amino acids, peptides or proteins of formula (H-(X-CHR2-CO) n-OH) (II) or their salts in the presence of acid catalyst and water at 0-100[deg] C for 5 seconds; then contacting the obtained solution or suspension of (II) with one or more alcohols of formula (R1OH) (III) at 50-200[deg] C for 15 minutes to 12 hours; removing water from the reaction medium until obtaining a solution of esters of (I); and optionally separating the esters from the solution, where the molar ratio of acid catalyst and (II) is 1.01:2, the water is present in an amount of 5-90 wt.%, and the molar ratio of (II) and (III) is 1:1/10. X : NH; R2 : -CH 3, -(CH 2) 3-NH-C(NH)-NH 2, -CH 2-CO-NH 2, -CH 2-CO-OH, -CH 2-CO-OR1, -CH 2-SH, -(CH 2) 2-CO-NH 2, -(CH 2) 2-CO-OH, -(CH 2) 2-CO-OR1, H, -CH 2-(C 3H 3N 2), -CH(CH 3)-CH 2-CH 3, -CH 2-CH(CH 3)-CH 3, -(CH 2) 4-NH 2, -(CH 2) 2-S-CH 3, -CH 2-C 6H 5, -CH 2-OH, -CH(OH)-CH 3, -CH 2-(C 8H 6N), -CH 2-(C 6H 4)-OH or -CH(CH 3)-CH 3(when X is N, then R2 is -(CH 2) 2-Y1-); Y1 : methylene of -CH2- connected to X; R1 : optionally saturated 7-36C (preferably 10-22 C) hydrocarbyl, where the hydrocarbyl has 1-4 ethylenic unsaturations, where R1 is derived from alcohols or acids including capric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, oleic or erucic, preferably from alcohols synthesized by hydrogenation of fatty acids or fatty acid esters of plant origin or alcohols of terpene origin as citronellol, geraniol or tetrahydrogeraniol, alcohols including Guerbet alcohols, or those derived from the hydrogenation of aldehydes of petrochemical origin; and n : >= 1 (when n is greater than 1, then R2 may be identical or different from each other). |
