The B-pillar (1) has a lower part (5) comprising buckled plates made of steel, and an upper part (4) comprising an extruded section made of lightweight metal or metal alloy i.e. aluminum or aluminum alloy. A cross-section of the upper part is smaller than a cross section of the lower part. The cross-section of the upper part lies between half and quarter of the cross-section of the lower part. The extruded section comprises a cross-section in shape of polygon i.e. trapezoid. An independent claim is also included for a car.
