Gas barrier of a filling element (1) for filling containers (2) with a liquid filling material, wherein the gas barrier (6) which is to be arranged in a flow path of the filling material has a lattice-like structure with a multiplicity of channels (9, 9.1 - 9.4) which are open on a gas-barrier top side (6.1) and a gas-barrier underside (6.2) and are separated from one another by wall sections or webs (10, 10.1). The lattice-like structure is of a honeycomb structure (8) having channels (9) with a hexagonal cross section.
