<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic having a high moisturizing effect and a use feeling of smoothness prepared by blending hyaluronic acid soluble in a cosmetic base of polyhydric alcohol, oil and fat, or the like with a low water-content cosmetic; and a method for producing it. <P>SOLUTION: This cosmetic, having a water content of 5 mass% or less, is characterized in that this cosmetic includes a modified hyaluronic acid and/or a salt thereof which contain a glycerin skeleton-containing group expressed by general formula (1) and that the number of the glycerin skeleton-containing groups contained in one constitutional unit of hyaluronic acid is 0.05 or more.
