<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift device capable of suppressing the generation of the vibration of a lever which is automatically returned to a home position. <P>SOLUTION: The lever is provided so that a reverse position R may be selected through operation to a second direction D2 which is different from a first direction D1, and not an opposite direction from a branch point TP. Moreover, the lever is provided so that a drive position D may be selected by operation to a third direction D3 which is different from the first direction D1 and the second direction D2 toward the branch point TP, and not an opposite direction. Thereby, it is restricted for the lever to move to the drive position D or the reverse position R exceeding the branch point TP when the lever automatically returns from the reverse position R or the drive position D to the home position H.
