<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for internal combustion engine which can increase a strength between an abrasion-resistant ring and an annular space part. <P>SOLUTION: The piston for internal combustion engine includes an abrasion-resistant ring 5 which is embedded in the inside of a cap part 2 and provided with a piston ring groove on an outer circumference thereof, an annular hollow part 6 which overlaps a portion of the abrasion-resistant ring in the axial direction of the piston 1 made of aluminum alloy and is disposed at a predetermined distance from an inner circumferential edge of the abrasion-resistant ring toward the inside in its radial direction so as to circulate cooling oil, and an alumina metallic coating of AC3A which is formed on the whole external surface of the abrasion-resistant ring, fuses with the piston base material, and has a lower strength than a piston base material. The metallic coating is formed so that a thickness on the side of an inner circumferential surface of the abrasion-resistant ring is thinner than that on the side of both the end surfaces in the piston axial direction. A distance in a radial direction between the inner circumferential surface of the abrasion-resistant ring and the inner surface on the outer circumference side of the annular space part is configured to be about 3.0 mm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
