The objective of the present invention is to provide a transmission device capable of performing playback corresponding to the viewing environment of a viewer for programs of identical content. This transmission device retains both 3D-use access information related to access to a 3D-use stream and 2D-use access information related to access to a 2D-use stream with respect to a simulcast comprising a 2D-use stream and a 3D-use stream. A data stream which includes both of the 3D-use access information and the 2D-use access information is generated and transmitted.
