The present invention is directed to novel pyrrole inhibitors of S-nitrosoglutathione reductase (GSNOR), a critical regulator of nitric oxide, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such inhibitors, and methods of treatment of liver disorders including liver toxicity, which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a S-nitrosoglutathione reductase inhibitor to a patient in need.
